2008 DATE ANNOUNCED FOR WOLVERINE HARLEY-DAVIDSON’S SECOND ANNUAL ANGELFEST TO BENEFIT MACOMB COUNTY CHILDREN
Clinton Township, MI- Following the success of last year’s event, Wolverine Harley Davidson of Clinton Township is happy to announce that it will host the second annual “Angelfest” to benefit abused and neglected children in Macomb County. Angelfest 2008 will be held on Sunday, September 14th at Wolverine Harley Davidson, located at 44660 North Gratiot Avenue, just south of Hall Road, in conjunction with the Macomb County Department of Human Services. The event run time remains to be determined.
A ‘tastefest-style’ event, Angelfest brings music, motorcycles and munchies from area restaurants and caterers to Clinton Township. Last year, over 500 attendees sampled fare from more than twenty area restaurants from Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties including Andiamo Italian Bistro, Atwater Block Brewery, the Grand Traverse Pie Co. and Lakeland Manor. “We’d do it again.” said John Salem, a chef from Harrison Township’s Crews Inn. Ken Le Fevre, Kitchen Manager of Shelby Township’s Hamlin Pub echoed his sentiments, saying, “Anything for foster kids is a great cause. We’d do it again next year.”
Last year's Angelfest evolved from previous Harley's Angels rides to benefit the over 1,200 children in active foster care in Macomb County and saw more than $27,000 in cash and in-kind donations made during the two-day event. Because children often come into foster care with no personal belongings, proceeds from Angelfest provide for basic needs ranging from winter coats to school supplies. Proceeds are also used to make participation in music and sports instruction accessible to children. In addition to benefiting young children in foster care, Angelfest proceeds aid teens and young adults in their transition out of care and into independent living by making possible the purchase of necessary household items.
